7 steps of job search process

An average US worker holds 10 different jobs before age 40. This seems they change or search for a new job quite often. And it is needed to look for job search process to change your job, isn't it? Searching for a job is a part of career development. Definitely the job search process requires multiple process in practice.

Step 1: Identify the skills and areas of interest

Question to consider in this step are:
  • What I am good at?
  • What do I like to do?
  • What have I studied?
This questions will help us to create a professional profile. 

Step 2: Creating a professional profile

Professional profile may include a short summary of educational background, work experience, volunteering experience and special training if any. Hobbies and interests can be also added to portray personal interest. 

After creation of the profile comes the time to looking for a job from different websites or newspaper or in-person. 

Step 3: Reading the job description

Job description is necessary to follow by the job seekers. The job description will tell you about the requirements and duties in some extent. And those should also match your skills for being effective  

The next two steps would be applying for the job and You need to send an application to the employer to apply for a job. 

Step 4 & 5: Send a Resume and a Cover Letter

The job seeker should send a Resume and Cover Letter to start to apply to any workplace formally.

A resume is a written document of work experience, education and skills. It is similar to your professional profile; and a cover letter is a formal letter to the employer to introduce the job seeker showing the qualification why they should choose you and ask for an interview. 

Step 6: Networking

Many people also use networking to introduce themselves to the future employers. Meeting and connecting with different people might be an aid to job seeking process as they come to know about your skills and interests in the communication process.

Step 7: Interview

Whether it is cover letter of networking, the employment would go for an interview if you have the skill sets to impress them and it is the best chance for the candidate to showcase his/her interest to the job market and demonstrate how they are qualified for the position.

An interview can be face-to-face or online. the candidate must portray himself briefly and clearly on the interview. 

Sometimes you have to be use your senses to understand the atmosphere and answer accordingly because not all employers likes brief description. There will be some employers who also like you to elaborate on the things. you just have to believe your intuition and act accordingly on interviews.
